Quicken Deluxe 2009 [OLD VERSION]

I found Quicken 2009 Deluxe Edition to be nothing but frustration.

I've had lots of problems hooking up Quicken to multiple blanks. It will work one day and then stop working for a month. I've found it nearly impossible to reconcile financial accounts with Quicken balances.

The Quicken user interface is klutzy. You have to bang on a field few times to get it to open. The user interface is inconsistent across the program. The user interface is so vast and complex that it's hard to find anything. The user is presented with massive drop-down lists of various types of transactions, all with who-knows-what-side effects and restriction. This is an example of software automation taken to the point of unusability.

I can manage my finances on a spreadsheet faster than I can battle Quicken to make it do what it is supposed to.
Inaccurate balances (2010-08-03) : 1/5
Have been using Quicken for about 9 months. Wish I could have stayed with previous version:
1. The biggest problem is that the information is not accurate. Starting in July there was something wrong with my balancing the account. I thought it was me doing something wrong between paying bills and balancing. But what I notice is that the balances are all wrong. Quicken shows an on line balance that is not accurate. And, I can not reconcile the Quicken on line balance with my actual bank account on line balance. It isn't because of an uncleared check. I am used to Quicken being off a day with downloading- meaning I see a cleared check or a posted deposit for the day when I look online through the bank web site and Quicken only downloads for the previous day- I thought it was Harris Bank. But, I have "downloaded" from Quicken two times this morning. The visuals confirm it is completed and all accounts have been successfully down loaded. But, my Quicken savings balance is off by months. This is not human error. This software is making mistakes in unpredictable ways that are not about reconciling.

THESE are serious mistakes that can result in overdraft or mythical account balances. I can not explain them or reconcile them. And, I have spent hours and hours over days trying to learn where the mistakes are.

2. Download now remains in Quicken- used to be you could stay on line and stay connected with your bank account. They want you to stay in their domain and use their bill paying system. I want to use my bank.
Quicken getting worse and worse and worse ... (2010-05-17) : 1/5
I've been using Quicken for over 10 years. The customer service/support is worthless at this point. I tried to upgrade to 2010 but that didn't work. I couldn't get any help at all to fix this. I had to restore from backup and now we are back to using 2009. Recently, our one-step-update has been taking 5-10 minutes when it used to take only about 10 seconds. Not sure what's going on there.

I have been using quicken since 2003, recommended by the tax person.
I finally had to get an updated version.
